Creighton men’s basketball rallied from a seven-point deficit with 2 minutes to play, survived a game-winning attempt at the buzzer then pulled out an 86-83 win in overtime against Georgetown at CHI Health Center Omaha Tuesday night.
Austin Swartz went off for a career-high 33 points on 12-of-16 from the field including 8-of-12 from 3. The sophomore hit the game-tying 3 with less than 20 seconds to play in regulation then scored seven of Creighton’s 10 in overtime. Josh Dix and Nik Graves added 15 and 13, respectively, as Creighton knocked down 13 3-pointers to offset Georgetown’s 56.9% shooting and 50 points in the paint.
The win improved Creighton to 11-7 overall and 5-2 in Big East play heading into Friday’s game at Providence.
