Creighton men’s basketball cruised past Nicholls at CHI Health Center Omaha Tuesday night, taking down the Colonels 96-76 to improve to 7-5.
The Bluejays shot a season-best 17-for-34 from 3-point range with a balanced scoring output featuring eight players between eight and 14 points. Josh Dix, Jasen Green and Owen Freeman tied for the team lead as Creighton shot 61% from the field overall.
With freshman Hudson Greer sidelined by a foot injury, sophomore Austin Swartz stepped up with 11 points off the bench, matching Nik Graves who also dished out seven assists.
In the final seconds, Liam McChesney soared in for a put-back slam, scoring his first points as a Bluejay and his first points in nearly three years. The High point transfer missed the previous two season after undergoing open heart surgery.
Up next for Creighton is a trip to Lincoln Sunday to take on the 8-0 Cornhuskers.
