Some big names from the Nebraska baseball team have entered the transfer portal following the Huskers’ season-ending loss at the Chapel Hill Regional.

Outfielder Robby Bolin and second basemen Cayden Brumbaugh headline a group of Huskers looking for new homes. Bolin announced the news himself on Thursday.

Bolin will have one year of eligibility left. In his only season with the Huskers in 2025, he posted 35 hits in 126 at-bats with 26 RBIs and 25 strikeouts. The Topeka, Kansas, native had an on-base percentage of .388 and a batting average of .278. He spent his first two season at Barton Community College.

Brumbaugh has two years of eligibility remaining after spending two years with the Huskers (including one redshirt year) and his freshman year with Oklahoma State. In 2025, he appeared in 61 games and scored 51 runs with 33 RBIs, and 18 doubles and one triple. The Edmond, Oklahoma native boasted a batting average of .309 and an on-base percentage of .389.

“A little surprised [about Brumbaugh],” Husker247 writer Michael Bruntz said on Hurrdat Sports Live. “I think a lot of times in the Big Ten you see guys have good years that have the potential to move up and go to a conference that’s a little more challenging.

“I think [Brumbaugh] can certainly play in the ACC and SEC if given the opportunity.”

Hail Varsity can confirm six other Huskers have entered the portal as well: outfielders Cael Frost and Hayden Lewis, pitchers Aiden Lieser and J’Shawn Unger, and catchers Colin Cymbalista and Kanon Sundgren.

Frost, the 2024 Summit League Player of the Year at South Dakota State, hit .222 with seven home runs in 42 appearances during his lone season in Lincoln. Cymbalista played in 15 games, Lewis played in 10 across two seasons, Unger and Sundgren played in one game apiece and Lieser did not make any appearances during his freshman season.

Nebraska baseball is coming off back-to-back Big Ten Tournament championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. The Huskers finished the year 33-29.
