Omaha Athletics is breaking new ground in college basketball.
The Maverick Men’s Basketball program has announced a multi-year jersey patch sponsorship agreement, becoming the first Summit League institution to add a commercial logo to its men’s basketball uniforms.
Omaha is also the first among Nebraska’s three NCAA Division I programs to secure a men’s basketball jersey patch sponsor, marking another milestone for the Mavericks as college athletics continues to evolve.
The sponsorship agreement comes ahead of an NCAA rule change that takes effect Aug. 1, 2026, allowing Division I programs to feature additional commercial logos or patches on uniforms, equipment and apparel during regular-season competition and other non-NCAA championship events.
Omaha Athletics Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Adrian Dowell said the partnership represents an important step for the department as it prepares for the changing financial landscape of college sports.
“This partnership is another significant step forward for Omaha Athletics and our men’s basketball program,” Dowell said. “Innovative partnerships like this create new opportunities to invest directly in our student-athletes while aligning with organizations that share our commitment to excellence.”
The Mavericks previously became the first college hockey program to announce a jersey patch sponsor through their agreement with Control Services for Omaha Hockey. Now, Omaha Men’s Basketball adds another first for the department as the program looks to build on its recent championship success and March Madness appearance.
