NU, CU Offer LSW Sophomore Frager

Tuesday is a day Lincoln Southwest sophomore Braden Frager will never forget.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound forward called Nebraska assistant coach Nate Loenser Tuesday midafternoon; the result of that call was Frager receiving an offer from his hometown Huskers. Hours later, in a previously scheduled call with Creighton coach Greg McDermott the Bluejays offered his second on the same day.

“I was shocked that it was this big of an offer for my first every offer,” Frager said of NU. “I am super thankful to them, and it’s even cooler that campus is 15 minutes away from my house.”

It was a quick conversation with NU coach Fred Hoiberg.

“He said he likes my game and wanted to offer me,” Frager said of the call. “He said there is still a lot more I need to work and to stay humble and hungry, to keep working hard and to not think I made it.”

NU assistant coach Nate Loenser has done a good job of cultivating an early relationship with Frager.

“I am going to unofficially visit Nebraska Wednesday to watch film and they will show me how I fit into their system,” he said. “I went up there a few weeks ago to just talk with coach (Nate) Loenser and get to know him better.”

Creighton coach Gregg McDermott and assistant coach Derek Kellogg watched Frager twice last weekend while playing for ETG 16U at Chapter II of the Adidas 3SSB AAU circuit. Once on Saturday evening and a second time on Sunday morning.

“He (McDermott) said he watched me play and was really impressed; He liked my versatility at such a young age,” Frager said of Creighton. “He said not a lot of people can touch the top of the square at my age and he looked up that I shot 42% from 3-point range my sophomore year which I thought was cool that he would dig that deep.”

Frager plans to make a trip to Omaha to unofficially visit Creighton soon.

“He (McDermott) said he wants to talk to me again and wants me to visit sometime next week so I can meet the staff and they can show me the facilities.”

Iowa State is another school that has shown recent interest in the bouncy Frager.

“Coach (Kyle) Green said he wants to build a relationship and get me on campus before they would offer. South Dakota State and Northern Iowa are two schools that have also shown some interest.”

At Lincoln Southwest Frager averaged 11.4 points and seven rebounds in 23 games last season.

It’s safe to say Frager’s stock has officially risen.
