Eric Ingwerson received his first Power Conference scholarship offer Saturday when Pittsburgh offered the 6-foot-7, 241-pound tight end.
“I was super thankful of the coaching staff giving me an offer to play at such a great program,” Ingwerson said of his visit. “I loved the beautiful city followed by all of the great restaurants.”
Ingwerson didn’t just enjoy the city of Pittsburgh, he bonded quickly with Panther tight end coach Tim Salem.
“The campus itself was amazing. Coach Salem gave us a tour and showed us all the cool things to do in the city. What I liked most about the visit is the coaches. you could tell that they care about you, that they want what’s best for you,” he said. “The relationships I made with the coaches was the best part getting to know the staff was amazing.”
Ingwerson saw more than his fair share of coaches visit Papillion-La Vista in late January. Nebraska, Northern Iowa, Northern Illinois were just a few that stopped by the school to meet with Monarch coach Tim Williams.
Northern Illinois (January 22) and Northern Iowa (February 7) were the first to offer Ingwerson. Missouri, Kansas, Minnesota, Wyoming, Colorado State, Iowa, Nebraska, Iowa State, Kansas State, South Dakota State, North Dakota State and Miami (Ohio) are some of the schools that have also been in contact.
“The schools that have shown the most interest that haven’t offered are Iowa, Minnesota and Kansas,” he said. “I am planning on going to Minnesota March 26 and Iowa April 1.”
