Bergen Reilly and Dani Busboom Kelly headlined a big awards haul for No. 1 Nebraska volleyball as the Big Ten revealed its postseason honors on Tuesday.

Busboom Kelly is the Coach of the Year while Reilly is the Player and Setter of the Year. Andi Jackson, Harper Murray and Rebekah Allick joined Reilly on the 25-player All-Big Ten First Team, with Reilly, Jackson and Murray among the nine unanimous selections. Taylor Landfair and Laney Choboy made second-team All-Big Ten while Virginia Adriano is on the All-Freshman team. Maisie Boesiger is Nebraska’s sportsmanship honoree.

The Big Ten saw a handful of tremendous coaching performances this season, but Busboom Kelly guiding the Huskers to a perfect 30-0 regular season record including a clean sweep through Big Ten Play gave her the edge. She’s the first first-year head coach ever to capture the Big Ten title, which the Huskers won by three matches. Nebraska is the sixth Big Ten team to complete an unbeaten regular season and the first since Wisconsin did so in the shortened spring season in 2021. The Huskers led the country in both hitting percentage and opponent hitting percentage.

Busboom Kelly has won four conference coach of the year honors in the past six years after taking home ACC Coach of the Year in 2020, 2021 and 2022 at Louisville. This is her second unbeaten regular season after guiding the Cardinals to the feat in 2021.

Reilly won her third straight Big Ten Setter of the Year award. Her assist average was down, largely because of occasional time splits with freshman Campbell Flynn, but her impact certainly wasn’t. She’s the second Husker to win Big Ten Player of the year, joining Kelsey Robinson from 2013, and the first Nebraska setter to win a conference player of the year award since Greichaly Cepero did so in 2002. She’s the second player to win three Big Ten Setter of the Year awards, joining Wisconsin’s Sydney Hilley.

Reilly averaged 10.31 assists and 2.73 digs per set, recording eight double-doubles while leading Nebraska to a nation-leading .352 hitting percentage, on pace to shatter the program record. She added 58 blocks and 65 kills while hitting .400. Each of her five primary attackers set a career-high in hitting percentage this season, with four of them setting a career-high in kills per set.

Jackson, the junior middle blocker, led the nation in hitting percentage at .471 and set a Big Ten record in conference play at .559. She averaged 2.75 kills per set (second on the team) and 1.13 blocks per set while serving 16 aces, tied for second on the team. Her hitting percentage is second in school history, behind only Tracy Stalls’ .473 in 2007, and her career-hitting percentage of .437 is No. 1 in school history and No. 1 among all active Division I players.

Murray, the junior outside hitter, led Nebraska with 3.55 kills per set on .304 hitting and 28 aces while adding 2.71 digs per set and 58 blocks. She notched three double-doubles and hit double figures in kills in 20 times within Nebraska’s balanced offense. She also carried a heavy passing load with the second-most serve receive attempts on the season.

Reilly, Jackson and Murray are all AVCA National Player of the Week semifinalists.

Allick has been a dominant blocker throughout her four-year starting career, but she made a big leap offensively as a senior to become a complete middle blocker. She averaged 2.52 kills per set on .431 hitting — both career highs by a significant margin — and 1.33 blocks per set. She scored double-digit kills six times this season after doing so just nine times in her first three seasons combined. Her blocking average and hitting percentage both rank third in the Big ten, with the latter ranking 11th nationally and sixth in program history. She moved into the top five of Nebraska’s rally-scoring era career blocks list this season.

Landfair, the 2022 Big Ten Player of the Year, developed into a terminal three-rotation hitter for Nebraska as a sixth-year senior. She averaged 2.06 kills per set on a career-best .320 hitting percentage, buoyed by a terrific Big Ten season that saw her hit .355.

Choboy bounced between the libero and defensive specialist roles all season, splitting duties with Olivia Mauch. She averaged a team-high 2.73 digs per set and helped Nebraska hold opponents to a .125 hitting percentage, the lowest mark in the country. She led the team in reception attempts and improved throughout the season. Teams served her 212 times during Nebraska’s first 12 matches, and she allowed 17 aces. Over the last 18, she only surrendered 10 aces on 214 serves.

Though Adriano only received three seasons of eligibility from the NCAA, she’s been classified as a freshman and earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week twice. The Italian opposite hitter averaged 2.21 kills per set on .287 hitting (2.34 kills per set on .318 in conference play) in her first season of volleyball in the United States, adding 51 blocks and 13 aces. She recorded double-digit kills three times and hit .500 or better six times.

Boesiger, the senior walk-on out of Norris, made her first career start at libero in Nebraska’s regular season finale against Ohio State and recorded 13 digs. The high school setter turned defensive specialist has played primarily as a serving sub throughout her career.
