Thursday was a one-game night for girls basketball, but it was a meaningful one. Class A district semifinal action produced a result worth tracking as the state tournament bracket begins to form.
Kearney 67, Omaha Marian 59 — District A-3
No. 3 Kearney took down No. 12 Omaha Marian 67-59 in District A-3, ending the Crusaders’ season. The Bearcats were the higher-rated team and handled the game accordingly, winning by eight to advance to the district final. Kearney enters that next round as one of Class A’s top state tournament contenders — a program that’s been built for a deep run this spring.
What’s Next
Thursday was a preview of what’s coming. The girls postseason slate opens up in a big way over the next week, with Classes C1, C2, D1, and D2 subdistrict semifinals on deck and Class A and B district action continuing to narrow the field.
