Omaha hockey has received a commitment from left-shot forward Louis Jonerheim.

Jonerheim has five points through six games this fall with Muskegon (USHL). He skated in 24 regular-season games with the Lumberjacks last season and another 16 playoff contests, helping Muskegon reach the Clark Cup Final.

Jonerheim opened last season — which was his first in North America — with the BCHL’s Trail Smoke Eaters before joining Muskegon. He put up 33 points (8-25-33) over 55 combined regular-season games in 2025-26 and added nine points over those 16 playoff games.

“Louis is a big, powerful forward who can really skate, and that’s a rare combination,” Muskegon head coach Colten St. Clair told Hurrdat Sports. “At his size, with his speed and skill, he’s a tough matchup for anybody. He’s an incredible teammate and an even better person, too. So we love him.

“He’s earned this opportunity with the work he’s put in, and UNO is getting a player who’s going to keep getting better. We’re really proud of him.”

The Swedish winger is listed at 6-foot-4.5 and 215 pounds, and he uses that frame to his advantage.

Jonerheim was previously committed to RPI but decommitted in early September. He announced his pledge to Omaha on Friday afternoon.

“UNO felt like a great fit for me instantly,” Jonerheim said in a statement. “It has a great hockey program and a great coaching staff that believes in me. It felt like the place for me to both develop; like a hockey player and as a player. I believe UNO is the right place for me to take the next step in my hockey career.”

Jonerheim missed the first two games at the USHL Fall Classic with an injury, but he’s been a regular in Muskegon’s top six otherwise. He’s played on both the left and right side, and Jonerheim is also wearing a letter on the road as one of Muskegon’s assistant captains.

Omaha’s roster currently features one Swede in junior defenseman Marcus Broberg.

The Mavericks open the regular season at Augustana on Thursday (Oct. 15) and will host the Vikings on Saturday (Oct. 17) at Baxter Arena.
