Creighton men’s basketball opened its 2025 recruiting class with a bang on Friday as Hudson Greer, a four-star recruit from Texas, committed to the Jays.

Greer announced his commitment on the On3 Recruits YouTube Channel. He’s the highest-ranked recruit in modern Creighton history, narrowly edging out current freshman Jackson McAndrew according to the 247Sports Composite. Greer is ranked 27th by ESPN, 32nd by Rivals, 35th by On3 and 58th by 247Sports.

Greer has long been a priority for the Bluejays, who offered him a scholarship in June of 2023. He took an official visit to Omaha in December and chose Creighton over other finalists Kansas and Alabama.

“After going on my visit, it just felt like home,” Greer told On3’s Joe Tipton. “Off the court stuff, the guys, I felt like, embraced me a lot, just the way they are, it was awesome. And then on the court, just the way Coach Mac has his guys coming off pin-downs, coming off flares, things of that nature, I just couldn’t ask for a better situation for myself.”

The 6-foot-7, 185-pound wing spent his first three years of high school at Lake Travis in Austin, Texas, before transferring to basketball powerhouse Montverde Academy in Florida. As a junior, he averaged 22.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.8 assists and 1.0 blocks while shooting 54% from the field (36% from 3). He dropped a career-high 37 points in a 57-30 win in December, one of 11 30-point games in his Lake Travis career.

As a sophomore, Greer put up 24.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.3 assists while shooting 55% from the field (42% from 3) and 80% from the free-throw line. He made an instant impact as a freshman as well, putting up 11.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 50% from the field, 39% from 3 and 81% from the line.

Greer played for JL3 on the Nike EYBL Circuit this spring and summer, averaging 14.3 points and 5.2 rebounds in the 11 games Synergy Sports has logged.

“I feel like the AAU [season], it didn’t do me justice just because I didn’t shoot as well as I could, but I know I’m a shooter for a fact,” Greer said. “And then just a guy that loves to go out there and compete with the best of them, and just go out there, fly around the court, get some dunks, get get the crowd hyped. That’s what I’m all about.”

Greer is the 11th top-100 recruit (according tot he 247Sports Composite) Creighton has landed since joining the Big East in 2013.
