Weather wreaked havoc on the Nebraska High School girls basketball sub-districts this week with two championship games left to be played today to set next Friday’s district finals in Classes C-1 to D-2. Here are projections based on completed games with some scenarios based on the outcome of Saturday’s games.
Class C-1
Six of the eight matchups are set, but not all seeds are locked in. Lincoln Christian, Milford and Minden will be the top three seeds. After that some seeds are up for grabs but matchups should be consistent.
16. Malcolm (15-10) at 1. Lincoln Christian (24-0)
15. Pierce (18-8) at. 2. Milford (22-1)
14. West Point-Beemer (18-8) at 3. Minden (23-2)
10. Central City (23-3) at 7. Arlington (20-4)
9. Raymond Central (20-4) at 8. North Bend Central (19-7)
Broken Bow (18-6) will play Scotus Central Catholic (20-4). If Bridgeport wins, this will be the 6-seed vs. 11-seed game. If Ogallala wins, this will be the 5-seed vs. 12-seed game. Bridgeport would face Battle Creek if they win (5-12 game), while Ogallala would travel to Gothenburg (4-13 game). Ogallala would face Bridgeport again if they won (6-11) game, while Battle Creek would play Gothenburg (4-13) game.
Class C-2
The outcome of the Thayer Central, Southern Valley game will have an impact on the middle of the bracket. The top-eight seeds are set as are the bottom four seeds with seeds 9-12 impacted by the Thayer Central, Southern Valley result.

How the final four can shake out. If Thayer Central wins they will be the 9-seed and will face Yutan. Humphrey-Lindsay would have GACC (7-10 game), Maywood-Hayes Center would have Cross County (6-11 game) and Southern Valley would travel to Homer (5-12 game). Should Southern Valley win, they would be the 9-seed and travel to Yutan. Thayer Central would face GACC (7-10), Humphrey-Lindsay at Cross County (6-11) and Maywood-Hayes Center would travel to Homer (5-12).
Classes D-1 and D-2
We believe all of these matchups are set. The Class D schools have a 180-mile rule in effect where if the two teams are more than 180 miles apart a neutral site is selected. This rule is not in effect in Class C, where all games are played at the high-seed.
